Since you are using a router in conjunction with your internet connection, it is likely that your router’s hardware firewall is blocking ports that Absolute Poker needs to access.
To quickly test whether your router is the culprit, try connecting your computer directly to your broadband modem, bypassing the router.
If your router is the cause of your problem, the easiest and most effective way to resolve this issue is simply to disable the hardware firewall included with your router. You will need to access your router's configuration to do this, as well as allow access to the necessary ports if you wish to continue using the hardware firewall. You will still be able to utilize a software firewall, as long as it is set up to correctly allow Absolute Pokers program components.
We have provided Absolute Poker's port information below.
Please perform the following steps in order to enable the necessary port access on your router. Please understand that the wide variety of router brands/models means that we can only give general instructions and the exact methods of accessing your router configuration may be slightly different.
First, you must access your router's configuration through the local IP of your router. To determine the local IP of your router, click "Start" on your taskbar, then click "Run". You should see a DOS prompt. From here, type "ipconfig" and click OK. This will show you a set of numbers. The line named "Default Gateway" will show you the local IP of the router.
With this information on hand, open your web browser, and enter the IP gateway you acquired. Please enter it into the address bar, just as you would access any other website.
This will let you reach your router’s login screen. Typically if you have never logged into your router previously, the user name will be "Admin" or "Administrator" and the password will be the same, or blank. This will vary depending on the brand/model. The best way to determine the login information is to consult the manual that came with your router. If you do not have either of those, then consult the webpage for the manufacturer your router.
Please refer to our list of common router brands and models. You’ll find the appropriate default login/password combinations and websites.
Once you are able to login to your router's configuration webpage, you will need to allow access to the following ports: 7000 - 7200 (the entire range), 6982, 8002, 8004, 8006, 8012, 8014, 8016, 8021, 8022, 8030, 8055, 8081.
This process is commonly labeled port forwarding.
